Clinton Pet Vet offers Acupuncture, certified Chinese Herbal
and Food Therapy.
CHINESE HERBAL THERAPY:
Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used in China for over 2000 years. In 2015 Dr. Price became certified in Chinese Herbal Therapy. This type of therapy includes herbs and acupuncture. Herbal prescriptions are not available over the counter. They are prescribed to your pet the same way as conventional pharmaceutical drugs and will be supplied by Clinton Pet Vet. The herbs are safe and effective and can be used for long periods of time with minimal to no side effects. Chinese herbs can be used to treat most conditions. They can be used alone or in conjunction with traditional medicine. They are often helpful in the treatment of chronic diseases and diseases in geriatric animals. They can be used to relive pain, help improve and restore organ function as well as strengthen the immune system.
FOOD THERAPY:
According to Chinese Medicine foods are like herbs and can be selected appropriately to act like medicine. In 2014 Dr. Price became certified in Food Therapy. Like herbal medicine, food therapy can be used in conjunction with traditional care. While Western nutrition focuses primarily on calories, carbohydrates, fats, proteins and vitamins, the principles of food therapy are classified according to energetic effects (for example foods that are warming and nourishing and foods that cool and eliminate/drain). Often times commercial foods do not take into account the individual needs of an animal. Dr. Price can guide you in making a home-made food for your pet that is individualized for your pets needs, minimally processed, fresh, wholesome and best of all prepared with love.
ACUPUNCTURE:
Acupuncture can benefit your pet through all stages of life. Like Chinese Herbal and Food Therapy, acupuncture can be used in conjunction with traditional medicine without side effects. Acupuncture involves the painless insertion of needles into body tissue where nerve bundles and blood vessels come together. These “acupuncture points” permit a cycle of energy to occur throughout the body.
